Bespoke Home, Ballymoney

Greenhill House

Summary

A contemporary but balanced Irish home. On this build we focused on achieving a rural design within home character and its integration into the surrounding landscape. This home was to feel natural in its environment, settled into existing and new landscape vegetation.

Home Design Northern Ireland

Contemporary Family Home Architecture

Our first house design – when Bell Architects had just launched – was for a family in Aghadowey. The brief was to create a dwelling that was new and handsome, but which also worked within the rural design guidelines for homes in the countryside.

It’s important to us that houses look like they belong – they shouldn’t fight with their surroundings. This Aghadowey House became an exemplar for our practice, incorporating traditional architectural design, but with fresh flair.

And yet, we particularly DO NOT believe that houses have to look like everything else – they don’t have to copy what has gone before. Instead, they can reinterpret and reshape for the future, but this takes skill.
